Tried The Gambler with a group of 6! All except one of us had never done an escape room before. Quynh was a great game guide and gave us lots of clues and encouragement throughout the process. Highly recommend her! We finished with 7 seconds to spare. Thanks so much Breakout KC for the fun night!

My friends and I wanted to start a tradition by engaging in a breakout room. We chose the Szechuan Market and under the guidance of Val, we conquered it with 35 seconds to spare!
Breakout KC staff was professional and the facilities were quite clean. I'm excited to go back to try another room whenever I'm back in Kansas City.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 20, 2023
Wow this place really exceeded my expectations! We came here for a friend's birthday and it was a wonderful time! This was my boyfriend and I's first escape room but our other two friends have done all of them here!
It was so cool to be in the energy and figuring out how to work the rooms. At first I did not know where to start, but doing it with people who have participated before made it easier to get the hang of things!
I am a mildly claustrophobic person and I did not find the confinement of the rooms to be an issue which was a fear I had that restricted me from trying this sooner!! They keep the doors unlocked and you are not actually locked in for an hour (this is probably not news to anyone but it was to me)!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Christine S.Tracy, CA1533219Aug 1, 2023
Had a great time doing Room 213 at the Breakout Hotel. Ollie was our escape guide and he was GREAT! At one point during our 60 minutes, one of the elements in the room didn't work. He stopped. The clock came in and resolved the issue. We found it just challenging enough for the four of us, to beat it with three minutes to spare! Super fun, will be back to Breakout KC, excited to see the new expansion.

We did Room 213 and had a ton of fun. There were four of us trying to figure this room out. We didn't do it, but pretty close I think. It was really fun trying to find clues. The room monitor was great and offered clues when we asked and when she saw we were so close but stuck (she asked ahead if this was okay). The experience was excellent. We would do this again!

Been to a few Escape Rooms in other states and one other in Kansas City - and I honestly wasn't too impressed with the other one in Kansas City.
Having said that, Breakout KC should be the standard that other Breakout rooms in Kansas City strive to achieve for - at the bare minimum.
Enthusiastic hosts, immersive intros on TVs, clues written out on TVs throughout the room - so there is no second guessing what the clue was if it was verbal, and detailed, elaborate rooms.
Not only that, but we did 'The Hero' and all of the clues felt...intuitive. Like there was no clue that made you feel "I've never would have gotten that" or "That doesn't even make sense."
Will definitely be back to try out some of their other rooms in the near future.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Doug M.Kansas City, MO111Jul 3, 2023
The room was great and so was our guide. Sadly, as soon as we stepped outside, that all changed. Our car was towed and we had no idea why. We've parked in essentially the same spot each time (4 total over 4 years) we have been there and did not see any new or old signage saying we could not. It is our fault for not seeing it. We went back inside to get out of the heat, try to calm down from the shock of what just happened, and offer some advice to the employees. We said that it would have been nice if Breakout would have warned us and to please warn the next groups. The answer to this advice is the most disturbing piece of the story. The manager said "That is not my problem." We were shocked again to hear this and pleaded with her to please warn others if not us. She then kicked us out. It is 90 degrees outside, we are in shock with our 11 year old son who just finished his first escape room, and you chose to make this day about how horrible of a person you can be? Instead of showing compassion or empathy, you chose to show disdain and enmity. Had you just said that we'll take your advice under consideration and offered an apology for the situation, we would have still left with a since that you cared. Because you chose hate over civility, that is why we will not be back and we will tell others about this less than desirable experience. An ounce of hospitality is all you had to show. Hopefully this story will help somebody else who visits your location and they avoid having their car towed away and a family will not be left in distress. Because we all know that you made it very clear that such an event is, in your very own words, "Not your problem." It is disgusting that this is the level of customer service people have chosen now. Kindliness in the face of great adversity has been lost.
