Zimmer is a popular science writer and blogger, especially regarding the study of evolution and parasites. He has written several books and contributes science essays to publications such as The New York Times and Discover.
 
Predators with ultraviolet vision. Parasites that control the minds of their hosts and burst out of their bodies. These may sound like the stars of the latest Hollywood blockbusters. But they're real creatures that live in our backyards. People often feel that a science like biology is too hard to understand and  too abstract to care about. Showing people that real life is more exciting than monsters on the silver screen is a powerful way to turn people towards science.
