McEnery Automation implemented process modifications and a modern Distributed Control System (DCS) to upgrade a major beverage company’s syrup making process. McEnery Automation designed this new process control system to replace the “heart” of their existing manufacturing process whose output couldn’t keep up with market demand. The process modifications included reconfiguring existing mix tanks to produce high concentration intermediate batches and adding an in-line blender just prior to the filler to create finished product. The DCS eliminated a significant batch process bottleneck, allowing the soft drink company to expand production output while increasing reliability and repeatability, ultimately growing their sales.
McEnery Automation implemented a modern control system for a powdered food manufacturer who needed a major upgrade to the controls of an existing filter-belt style spray dryer. The spray dryer controls and capabilities were falling behind the company’s requirements for developing custom solutions for clients. McEnery Automation’s control system solution successfully improved system reliability and flexibility while providing historical process data for use in energy reduction and on-going improvements in product quality. The food manufacturer realized productivity increases due to faster startups, fewer shutdowns caused by air pressure variances, and an overall reduction in cleaning wet product from the spray dryer during production.
McEnery Automation designed and implemented a new batch control system for a leading global food manufacturer who had an unsupportable legacy batch control system at a powdered coffee creamer plant. The food manufacturer needed a dynamic system which would allow ongoing recipe and process modifications to be implemented by plant personnel without lost production. McEnery Automation successfully delivered a batch automation system that controlled key processes at several locations in the plant and integrated reliably with their existing corporate-standard HMI so that implementation and training costs were minimized. As a result of extensive testing and simulation, a cutover period of just a few hours was required for each process area, with no lost production.
McEnery Automation designed and implemented a new control system for a major global brewery. Their microbrewery test facility was seeing new demand from brewmasters who wanted to create new recipes, experiment with ingredients and explore new brewing techniques, but automation changes were difficult with the legacy equipment. McEnery Automation successfully delivered a brewery control system that provided more flexibility for process modifications, enhanced recipe management, expanded use of process data and better support and system reliability.
McEnery Automation implemented an enterprise-wide rollout of a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to 18 facilities for a global beverage producer. This operational intelligence system replaced numerous custom-developed legacy data collection and reporting systems which had reached obsolescence, but were still heavily relied upon for business operations. McEnery Automation was chosen for this critical, multi-year implementation, and our control system engineers worked as part of our client’s team throughout the entire project – from evaluation and testing, through system design, implementation and on-going system support.
